Judith Ayn, a retired attorney, began her writing career in earnest when she moved from sunny Southern California to soggy Seattle to practice law. During her time in the Pacific Northwest, she was an active member of Sisters in Crime (SINC) and found the inspiration to create the fictional world of Cheater’s Lake, Washington, scene of her first book length mystery in a series, DEAD LAWYERS, published in Summer 2021. She raised her son in the Seattle area until he graduated high school and left for college on the East Coast, at which time she happily returned to SoCal to dry off!
MURDER AT THE NO-KILL ANIMAL SHELTER, a prequel novella, was published in Spring 2021. Judith has also had a variety of essays, short pieces, poetry and a short story published online, in Sisters in Crime publications, as well as an anthology she helped produce and co-edit for the Ventura County Writers Club.
She is currently owned (and operated) by two crazy rescue felines, Ziggy and Sammy Sue, the models for Fred and Ethel in her Cheater’s Lake stories. Now a member of Cat Writers’ Association as well as SINC and Mystery Writers of America, her plan is to slowly take over the world, one cat, one mystery at a time. Stay tuned!
